I’m increasingly being asked to render comment on issues that impact the enterprise. This puts me in something of a dilemma. Do I set up another blog for that or do I stick with this one? I’ve decided for the time being that I’ll stick with this place because finance straddles both and has a positive role in both. I also believe there is plenty of opportunity to learn on both sides.
Many of the core issues around social software have resonance to both groups. In my view this allows me to address both audiences without duplication of effort.
In order to manage the mix of issues, I’ll be grouping practice/SMB posts and providing visual clues so each type will be obvious. That way, you can easily pick what you want and leave the rest. An example might be compliance/Sarbanes-Oxley which is usually considered an international compliance issue but which has resonance in the slightly less regulated atmosphere of UK GAAP.
I hope that makes sense but if this causes problems then don’t worry, I can always rethink. It may require a bit of a redesign at some point. We’ll see how it works out.
