The snail's pace of atrophy

In further analysis of Software 2006, PR outfit the Horn Group observes that:

Almost every type of tech company except enterprise software (with only a few exceptions) has realized that blogging as a communications media is vital to their business. Webbie start-ups have even commented that a post on engadget is more valuable to them than a mention in The NYT or The WSJ.

Which roughly translated includes 99% of British accountants who have yet to figure out new business models. I wouldn’t count on too much good guidance at the moment fro incumbent suppliers. Instead, I’d suggest casting your eyes out to places like IT Redux, where Ismael Ghalimi is assembling a list of really interesting applications that could come together as an alternative suite for the knowledge worker..

Dennis,

I would be tempted to extend your comment to cover the long-tail, wisdom of crowds, disruptive innovation and many other recent developments.

I'd be interesting in your thoughts,

Nigel
