ZDNet has a video webcast entitled: Turning cost into benefit: Can compliance actually be a force for good in the IT department? this is a great resource on a number of fronts:
- The content quality is excellent – topics like outsourcing, the role of government, the extent to which IT can influence legislation, differences between private and public sector experience and differences among different cultures on Europe are tasty enough to justify a viewing by anyone doing business in the UK or in a wider geographical context
- The speaker lineup is first class – CA, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and Ernst & Young
- User presentation is excellent – ZDNet divided the 57 minute (phew – that’s a lot of content) video into 7 logical sections so you can pick and mix
I’m not convinced the discussion fully answers the original question. But at a time when compliance in its broadest sense is an integral part of IT and business strategy, the insights offered are of more than passing value. Especially if you are a professional accountant engaged in advising on this topic area.
