Gotta love SMEs

Vinnie’s post I am Spartacus! – I am SME! is so right. This observation about interest in SME’s caught my eye:

Tom Foydel is starting a series of posts around NetSuites for “Geniuses”. Many other SaaS vendors are going after this market

Yes they are Vinnie – but none of the big boys – Intuit excepted. Sage is keeping mum and only paying lip service at the moment. They have at least one high profile blog. I of course am pressuring to see it out in the open. I’m also pressuring (see comments) another company that’s seriously fouled up to do something similar.

For those already in the game, now is the land grab time. My sense is that at the rates of relative growth I’m seeing, the no-names stand a good chance of getting a solid foothold. In one case we’re talking 18% month over month. The ones I’m thinking of are well funded. But every one’s got the same problem – marketing and noise.

My audience is an ideal target for these offerings because they will be able to make the necessary ROI and value calcs but with the kind of clarity that’s downright impossible when we’re looking at on-premises offerings. these people also have significant influence among large client groups. So they have the potential to deliver a proportionally greater impact on the market than on-premise vendors who have to work through a fragmented dealer network.
