Office 2.0 is here

by admin on July 21, 2006

I’ve said on many occasions that I’ve been completely weaned off Microsoft technology, including Office. It’s an uphill struggle at times with clients who are, quite naturally wedded to Outlook, Word and so on. Then out of left field, Ismael Ghalimi announces:

In anticipation to the Office 2.0 Conference that will take place in San Francisco in October, IT|Redux is sponsoring an Under the Radar event on Office 2.0 hosted by SAP Labs in Palo Alto, CA on August 15.

I am soooo jealous. Here’s a plea: I know some of the most interesting stuff is happening over in Palo Alto but can us second class citizens get a taste back here in Europe?

Seriously, there are a lot of people over here lurking around that would be gob smacked at this stuff. It might even pique the interest of the 20th century media folk. To say nothing of some professionals I know who are sniffing around.

Hugh – you supplying the Stormhoek goodies?

Hey Dennis, maybe we should put a trip together. We ought to be able to do it for around €1500.

    Sponsors or self-funded?

    Well, let’s see:

    a) We could secure some editorial commissions (hard work, low pay)
    b) We could offer to ‘research’ the event for people who need the intelligence but can’t afford the time to go themselves
    c) We could find some kindly souls to sponsor a ‘British Expedition’
    d) We could stick our hands in our pockets (least favoured option right now)

Shame we live where we do really.

David impersonating me on the first comment, so I guess I’ll have to jump in. How about you get WinWeb to sponsor your participation? In exchange, I’ll waive the fee for WinWeb to be part of the demo panel. Let me know if that works for you guys.

    Best regards

You should startup a ERP/Accounting barcamp in your neck of the woods. I’m sure we could get James involved as well ;>

The angle is answering your please above ;) Seriously though, it’s the same as this blog, just a different channel. And, you’d do it in the cheapest (preferably free or sponsored) most convient way possible.

Check out BarCampEarth for the upcoming BarCamp mega-event. There might be one in your neck of the woods, so you could check out the barcamp kool-aid ;)
