Tax investigation reality check

Rebecca Bennyworth (sorry – walled garden stuff) puts forward a well thought out response to the current UK compliance regime/climate. For me Rebecca hits the nail bang on where she says:

The relationship we must consider, therefore, is between agents as a group and the tax authority. What sort of relationship could benefit ourselves and our clients, and what benefits might this also have for the tax authority?

as a group….That’s the issue to me. CAs are notoriously protective of their client portfolios without thinking about the benefits of collaborative working. Why? Is it because we’re not as well prepared as we should be or because we don’t have the right tools for the job at hand?

There is no technical reason why professionals should not be well equipped to fend off HMRC through shared knowledge. Folk who come here regularly already know that and are working towards delivering client value.

Rebecca – if you want answers to the questions you raise then please do get in touch – I would love to work with you on this. So much to say, so much to do but it can be fast tracked real easy.
