What struck me is that mashup, folksonomies, AJAX and corporate blogging, while on their way to the so-called trough of disillusionment are expected to become mainstream in less than 2 years. RSS Enterprise and wikis are thought to become mainstream in the next 2-5 years. I find the latter prediction out of whack with the others, especially as RSS is such a fundamental part of the next iteration of Windows and serves as a corner stone to so many of the lightweight application integrations I anticipate seeing in the next 1-2 years.
Of course us accounting types tend to lag behind technology adoption cycles but maybe it’ll be a but different this time around?
