More on Office 2.0 or…what's in a name?

in Humour

Ismael tells me I’m the no.2 registrant for Office 2.0. Hint: I like to plan well in advance – don’t all us number crunchers?

But then he raised an interesting question. In the registration form you need to give a business name. Ismael asked if there’s a web site for my sometime business name ACR Strategies. There isn’t

Back in the day I would have put my practice name or, more recently the name of the research company I worked with. In the last few years I’ve traded off my own name. But more sites were insisting on a corporate identity. Being a person of limited imagination – (hey, I crunch numbers, what do you want, blood?), I couldn’t think of anything in particular until one day it struck me: consultants, day rates, pontificating, presumed expertise…

So I came up with ACR Strategies – A Complete Ripoff. So that’s what I trade off as when required to do so. Just so’s you know.

You're funny as usual:-)

As for trading your own name, my experience is similar: I guess I wasn't in a a creative moment when I set up my blog, so I just used my own name. I didn't think it would "take off"; later when it started to show signs of life I thought I would give it a more "businessy" (Enterprise 2.0 types know what I am referring to...) name. Then some PR-types suggested I shouldn't... the personal name is perfect for branding:-)
