AIM chair blasts out of touch profession

I don’t often write detailed responses but here is what I said: Damian – some of us have been voicing these concerns for many months across a broad swathe of subject areas. That’s not to be negative about the profession but the sooner it stops trying to ‘live the brand’ and starts acting in an ethical, modern and consistent manner reflective of client needs, the less we’ll see this kind of comment.

The flaws in CODA's speedy close argument

Are US auditors ignoring the law?

Fast forward to July: The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) has determined that a large portion of these excessive [Sarbanes-Oxley related] costs can be attributed to compliance processes and audits that were not as effective or efficient as intended…. On audit quality, you can argue the rise in the number of restatements of audited accounts implies that rather than going forward, restatements are an indicator of going backwards or, at the very least, standing still.
