Steve Checkley says Winweb has acquired AccountsVision:
Chief to benefit from the deal are our collective customers. Firms that have signed up to WinWeb’s accountancy practice partnership scheme will now be eligible to receive licences of AccountsVision as part of their subscriptions. Our own customers now have access to WinWeb’s on-line products and our high level of support will be extended to cover all of the above products.
This means that a firm can now get a website, on-line bookkeeping, accounts production software and first class support all from just one place. Prices start from just £499 + VAT.
This was something Winweb CEO Stefan Topfer and I discussed last year. At the time it made logical sense to add-in practice management functionality and the natural starting point was the initial linking between the two systems. This was due to be followed by AccountsVision undertaking some re-engineering to become a multi-tenant service. At that point it would not have made sense for Winweb to leave AccountsVision swinging in the breeze.
Steve says Stefan will be providing more detail at some point.
One small tip fellas: Don’t waste your time and money on press releases. Nobody cares.

yo dennis you forgot your disclaimer mate. also – it seems odd your log in system has no way of remembering my details?
Got to hand it to you Dennis, two software companies encounter each other in blogland (I will have to assume), develop a partnership, merge and then announce it via their blogs… A perfectly seamless demonstration of the changing market dynamics you're advocating. You didn't put Stefan up to it, did you?
I’ll be intrigued to hear what this will mean to Winweb accountant partners who don’t use AccountsVision – and to accountants on AccountsVision who don’t use Winweb.
Will accountants have to use both or neither in future?

James: nope – my deal with WW came to an end. We're both cool with that. My job was done and I consider I did well to get a year long deal at a time when I had little to offer in traffic for clicks. But that's not why companies sponsor what I do. and no – I'm not sharing the model – sorry.
John: nope – you know as much as I do. Expect more of the same.
Good point Emily. Your firm's a winweb customer isn't it?
Did they tell you about this before I wrote it up?
Dennis, great scoop.
And no the accountant (even gold) partners did not know about this.
Jason is right – not a peep. I would hope that means no changes will be made to the availability of the two packages separately.

Hmmm…not good. IMO they've missed an opportunity to engage with the existing practitioner portfolio and properly explain what this means. The one thing they should not do is force fit the solution – that would be inviting trouble.
Hi all,
There will be no requirement for firms that use WinWeb to use AccountsVision.
Before the deal took place, all Silver and Gold firms could obtain licences of AV as part of their WinWeb subscriptions whilst Bronze firms were entitled to a discount on the normal price. Now all WinWeb partner firms are can have AV if they wish.
As there is a price differential between a single licence of AccountsVision and the Bronze WinWeb package, our AccountsVision users are invited to upgrade to the Bronze package, but we will not be forcing anybody to do anything!
I hope that this clarifies things!
Steve
Hi All,
Sorry for not talking about this deal before it was done, but any M & A deals are not easy and it's not over until the fat lady sings.
I will make a more detailed statement in the near futur about this and other developments.
Regards, Stefan
Stefan: no-one is asking for information *before* a deal is concluded. Jason and Emily (in this case) are bemused and were seeking details about how it impacts their practices.
It would have been better to provide all firms with guidance before or around the time Steve notified me about the deal.
