As the low cost airlines are driving prices down in an industry that arguably provides the fastest way to get from A to B, Larry Dignan reports Oracle has been trying to squeeze more out of customers using multicore processors. As Larry says:
Why should you have to pay more for your applications just because they run faster. More usage? It’s a weak argument.
Sure as heck is weak. Which makes MYOBs decision to ratchet up prices following a new release look faintly ridiculous. What do you get? Outlook integration. Maybe they’ve not read Dan Farber’s recent post: The last desktop app standing?
Maybe they’re banking on Frank Koehntopp’s experience being replicated enough times for people to get fed up of Google Apps before it gets into flight?
