Windows reVista

in General

Having been forced onto Windows through my own stupidity I’ve been pleasantly surprised. LiveWriter is the dog’s nuts as a blog editor and using Firefox is a much better experience than on the Mac.

Does this mean I’m being lured back to Wintel? No. Mac hardware provides a much more satisfying experience and with the current range of machines, I can flip between Mac and Wintel operating systems pretty much at will (for a few ££ more.)

Someone said (where’s that link?) the Mac provides the best platform for running Windows apps. I’ll find out soon enough.

Vinnie reckons that with the price of laptops tumbling, replacing Wintel machines every year is easily justified. Maybe so. But then I’m minded that a number of the Bloggers Corner folk experienced irritating wee Windows problems while Coté and I had a trouble free experience. For me, the premium is well spent on a new MacBookPro, even if the machine only lasts 18 months. (I am hard on machines so 18 months is about the max for any kit that falls into my hands.) Craig Cmehil will tell you that GarageBand alone is worth the Mac investment. I’m inclined to agree.

Note: Craig – please get SAP to support Mac natively for stuff like podcasts and vidcasts. Makes my life a lot easier.

Safari might still be a ways away but US SAP Employees are apparently now able to order Mac's as their work machines - I'll let you know as soon as it reachs EMEA or I'll just show you mine then :-)

This of course also means a lot is being done to solve those issues...
