Chance encounters

The population of London is something around 7.5 million. So what are the chances of running into someone on Regent Street you know but have made no arrangement to meet? Someone will work out the odds. But that’s exactly what happened yesterday.

Nice to see you Gary and thanks for the coffee.

No Twitter required and somehow infinitely more satisifying.

Must be something in the water this week. Happened to me yesterday. I was quietly queuing in a Soviet Leisure complex (in North Somerset) when the very distinctive laugh of an old friend I had not seen for over a year caught my ears. He claims he was there to play badminton.

Same thing has happened to me in Art Galleries in London. Mostly involving people I haven't seen since art school... maybe Gary has a point!

It was good to have an unexpected chat over coffee.

But as I said yesterday, Dennis, I'd imagine that the odds of meeting someone we both know are considerably shortened around the quarter mile radius of the Apple Store on Regent St.

I managed to bump into two people I know on the street in London in two unconnected incidents on Wednesday - scary!
