Loic LeMeur has started Blogakademy. The idea is to give people who might otherwise not be known an opportunity and a platform from which they can be seen and heard. From Loic’s English language blog:
-open it to guest authors
-I just asked the candidates to post a video to introduce themselves and explain what they would like to post about
-I gathered a jury of top french blogger friends (there are many other french blogger who are not there too) and a few non bloggers too
-I gave a week to gather the videos, then they will post during two weeks on my blog
-the jury will decide the winner and I will give 500€ to the winner as a coupon on Amazon, paypal, a sexshop, etc… whatever the winner prefers![]()
Loic tells me in his Tweets that Nokia has offered a 5300 XpressMusic as a second prize. That’s cool.
At present, Blogakademy is only for French bloggers and there are 23 video introductions already. Loic would like to see it go international. I’m on the UK judging panel if it gets that far.
This is such a great idea. It’s about the power of giving back combined with not just an invitation but a reward mechanism. It also introduces me to lots of new people – which itself is goodness. As Hugh might say: I rather suspect this is part of Loic’s larger ‘evil plan’ for LeWeb 3 – and a few other things.
