Awesome idea #27: changing the muzak

Courtesy of Marjolein Hoekstra aka CleverClogs. Which inspired an idea.

Instead of those boring old ‘I’m not here and will get back to you’ emails, why not embed the link to this video (or one of your choice)

Marjolein has been researching it and says it’s a Stevie Wonder tune originally sung by Syreeta. Heartbreaking and haunting but as delicious as best Belgian chocolate.

Regardless, don’t you think that clients might prefer this as a social gesture that you care about them?

Hmm, I did misunderstand. I was thinking in binary "write a personal reply" or "have one out of office message for all" terms.

Krupo - did you miss the point? Email is usually addressed to named individuals. Ergo, if I can't get back to you at least enjoy this gesture until I do rather than being palmed off to some idiot that probably knows nothing about my affairs (in my experience.)

Cute idea, but if I were to put up an out of office message I doubt they'd be loading up a video. They'd be looking for someone to help them with whatever they need.

But then, I'm not working on my own but have a big group to fall back on.

There's upsides and downsides to this.

The tune is called "Cause We've Ended as Lovers", by a Brit named Jeff Beck.
