in General

People like me spend inordinate amounts of time trying to parse what’s going on. Sometimes, we even succeed. Recently, Stefan Topfer has taken a different tack. He’s been scouring around for epithets that hold true. Not surprisingly, few come from pundits. Some of my favourites:

Computers and internet: Computers are useless. They can only give us answers. – Pablo Picasso, Spanish artist.
Marketing: Anyone can build market share and, if you set your prices low enough, you can get the whole damn market. – David Packard, US entrepreneur.
Success: It takes years to make an overnight success. – Eddie Cantor, US entertainer.
Decisions: A bad decision is when you know what to do and you won’t do it. – Duncan Goodhew, Olympic swim champion
Customers: The only profit center is the customer. – Peter Drucker, management guru

There are plenty more to choose from.
