Last week was incredibly hectic. Traveling to Manchester via Gatwick in the middle of the night is not fun but then as the old saying goes, needs must and the devil drives. Ed and I met with a payroll specialist provider. We’re thinking that managing payroll and P11D is such a royal pain that it’s better to outsource. We’ve got a heads of agreement to review but in essence we’re at the ‘pre-dating’ stage.
Next we met with a firm that specialises in providing accounting services to contractors. We’re now discussing ways to co-innovate as part of an ongoing program that will see FreeAgent get better at what it does. One of the ideas on the table is to provide validation and alerts so that dubious entries are flagged for attention. This makes a lot of sense as it helps eliminate errors.
The following day I met with another specialist form which is looking to co-market. The idea here is that we provide their clients with service access and we both work towards bringing clients on board. We’ll likely do a number of deals like this with firms that become known as ‘Free Agent Friendly.’
When the deals are all signed off, we’ll reveal the names and outline next steps. Some might say this is mad but we’re great believers in transparency so while we won’t reveal commercially sensitive information, we’ll share as much as we can.
This upcoming week will be just as hectic. This time I’ll be at FOWA on Wednesday and Thuursday. It promises to be an interesting couple of days with some of the world’s leading lights in the web apps space putting in an appearance.
