XBRL for Dummies: a great read

My copy of XBRL for Dummies arrived last week. At 88 pages it’s not exactly a door wedging candidate and the ‘Dummies’ format makes for easy reading. The book is an excellent introduction to XBRL that far exceeded my expectations from the time I saw the first draft. Authors Peter Weverka and Wilson S. So have picked apart a topic usually guaranteed to induce sleep and made it interesting and accessible. That’s a rare feat.

I particularly like that they spell out benefits and challenges, peppering the text with solid examples from real life. Most important, they set implementation cost expectations supported by thought through examples from Microsoft, Radyne, PepsiCo and Comcast.

The book is not for resale but I have the contact details for anyone interested in obtaining a copy.
