Thanks for bringing some new sites to my attention. John, LinkedIn is a gold mine. I just posted a Q&A asking for help, and I got some great feedback. Just like anything else in life, you need to sweat to build a profile. I got about 800 contacts and it was hard shifting from about 50 to 200 or so. Once you hit 500, others start wanting to know you. At the end, it depends what you want out of each application.

With respect to FB, I joined last July or so and have spent time building a profile, but must admit use it less these days. It has its use, and I am not convinced its time to kill it yet.

Best regards
Manoj

PS: has anyone heard of www.edocr.com? If so what are your views?

I didn't have the nerve to kill my FB account. I just posted on the wall that I'm never on Facebook and to look for me elsewhere.

I would never kill off my Facebook page. Someday I might be actually interesting and then puppets will commandeer my name and run amok on Facebook. We Must Prevent That.

LinkedIn is similarly worthless. No trust there, just earnest "Hello, my name is __" networking and handing out of electronic business cards. LinkedIn might deserve the cryogenic treatment next.

@Dennis

I agree. I only have 2 apps installed and one of them is Scrabulous! Nearly all the apps I've seen or been invited to add are along the lines of answer 5 questions and compare yourself to the 3 other friends who installed this. All, without fail, are pointless and inane.

That's a pity. I'd regularly take a look at your page to see if there were any apps worth having.

Hi Dennis, by coincidence I've just killed my linkedin account for the complete opposite reason; rather than too many things happening, nothing was happening. Appreciate that's it's designed with a different focus and works in a different way.

There must be an opportunity for some middle ground on a site that's designed for professionals.
