Out of adversity comes an octopus

Totally off topic but too good to miss. Sam Lawrence had a nasty accident recently and broke his ankle rather badly. If you don’t know Sam he’s the highly creative chief marketing officer for Jive Software, a company I’ve grown to like in the last few months.

Rather than play the sympathy card, Sam chose to make a virtue out of the fact he’ll be stuck in a wheelchair for three weeks. Believe it or not, he has secured wheelchair sponsorship from no less than Cap Gemini. That’s what I call creativity.

The 3-D octopus is a reference to the way in which Sam believes organizations should operate but which don’t in practice.

Sam’s a super smart guy and should be required reading for anyone who is interested in how collaboration should work but which in the real world is utterly borked.
