Arithmo: fail

by Dennis Howlett on June 19, 2008

According to John Stokdyk:

Accountants themselves are leading the charge. The Stockport-based firm of TWD has been operating its TWD Online service for more than a year and boasts more than 1,000 users. They include users recruited from the firm’s client base and people who have come in through its links with MSN, AOL Money and Tiscali. Final preparations are now in hand for a rebrand that will see the service appear on the web under its new name, Arithmo.

“It’s a very busy little market,” said Arithmo’s Mike Parkes, who sees the system as an equivalent to Kashflow, the winner of the 2007 Software Satisfaction Award for web-based accounting software.

That’s as may well be but the service doesn’t exist. Yet. Why is that old style vendors who try and re-invent themselves in the hope of catching a new wave fail to learn from the lessons of the past? If you’re online then it kinda helps to have something real, doesn’t it?
