Having just about recovered from SAP TechEd Las Vegas (and no, I hardly stepped outside the conference/hotel the whole period and no, I didn’t feed the slots or gamble but I did get sore feet from walking the miles of corridors etc), I’m now making preparations for attending TechEd Berlin. As always the learning in Vegas was great, as was the opportunity to connect with people with whom I’ve been working recently, some of whom I’d not previously met. These guys for instance on the ESME team, our wee project designed to put content into context for a purpose.
Then there was the opportunity to sit down with Zia Yusef who runs the massive SAP ecosystem and get stuck into a lively Q&A about how SAP might make a better job of reducing its TCO for customers. Zia listened intently and there may well be follow up on solid points raised by my colleagues.
Community Day is always a blast as it is here where the uber geeks and code head rock stars hang out. I’m not saying that just cuz I get to play there but because it’s true on many levels. It’s where I first met the Colgate Twins aka the creators of Majority Desk, one of the coolest mashups between enterprise and consumer I’ve ever seen. Dan and Eddie also happen to be incredibly engaging and willing to lend a hand at most things. It’s also where I got to meet the person who did this on a flight between his home and Vegas. This time around I’m hoping to stay on for RIA Hacker night. My pal Craig will be trying to fill me with Jagermeister.
Whoever said enterprise software is boring is REALLY missing a trick. And if perchance you’re in Berlin then look me up. I’ll be the nutter walking around with a SAP Mentor cap and studded with ESME bling. Alternatively, check out this scary pic for a reminder of why I know I have a great face for radio.
