HMRC blocking HMRCisshite.com?

Ken Frost says that a commenter to his site claims HMRC is blocking access to HMRCisshite.com:

You may find that you get less HMRC staff posting comments on this blog since the site is now blocked by HMRC in their offices.Another example of the “dark side” censorship, its clear HMRC don’t like criticism

That doesn’t surprise but it is pointless when people can gain access from their private machines, public terminals and the like. If anything (and assuming it is true), HMRC employees are likely to be resentful of a forced censorship of a site, which, while laced with sarcasm, makes excellent points. What next? Banning The Register?

The webblog has attracted many disgruntled employees of HMRC who are able to comment using the anonymous posting facility, and comment they do, en-masse.

Apart from discussing topics such as the ins and outs of management pay rises, IT failures and conspiracies, Ken also focuses on some of the ludicrous demands made by HMRC's bosses on their staff.

What gives you the right to dictate what people may or may not be able to access on the net?

Arrogance of the highest order.

You say that I am absuing the staff and that they are the target of my criticism, if that is the case why do I receive so many comments from them on the site and emails from them backing what I say?

Ken

I understand the point but that's for people to decide for themselves. Arbitrating taste is a personal thing and as we both know, it is possible to switch off. Done it many times with people I found were being idiotic in some way.

However, the point is that anyone's content, if freely available, can be accessed if people are inclined. Enforcing a ban seems pointless in that regard.

Denis

For once I disagree with you

Ken is so far from the mark and so offensive I see every reason to block this

HMRC has a right to say it's staff, who are the effective target of his criticism which is not constructive but a simple anti-tax rhetoric of little merit, should be protected from abuse

Richard
