Innovation humour

by Dennis Howlett on October 22, 2008

It started like this:

that quickly moved on to this:

and then…

and…

by which stage it was all getting rather silly.

But you get the point? Humour is a great thing and even though it might ‘invade’ workspace I wonder if anyone has undertaken a study to figure whether there is an ROI associated with this form of interaction. I do know that happy people tend to be more productive. Surely a dash of socially mediated humour can do no harm?

In the meantime, here’s the link to the original story that sparked this interaction.

  • 1) In my PERSONAL experience, humour equates to intelligence (although that just might be that I think the people who laugh at my jokes a smart....)

    2) Why didn't the cow cross the road ? She was too tired to moooove.
  • @gumshoo: ROI is important - we're accountants here dude!
  • Did you find my comment humorous? Did you laugh silently, aloud, chuckle, snort, sniff etc? There might be way for you bean counters to determine the amount of calories burned by measuring the reaction. Just trying to help.
  • of course but it must be in a spreadsheet that has been SOX tested. (lol)
  • Dennis,

Please don't ruin humor by trying to find its ROI. Unless of course the ROI is actually humorous.
  • Dennis ...

Humor will carry you a long way in life in all of your relationships. Both smiling and laughter cause the release of endorphins in our bodies. Endorphins are natural pain relievers. WhooHoo! The more, the merrier!

The older I get, the less space I allow for people in my life who are void of a sense of humor. You know the ones ... if they smiled, their faces would crack!

    Live Well,
