I've a feeling a lot of the new age social media nonsense is directly related to the "culture of excess" that has dominated the business world for the best part of a generation. Most sane people will quickly tune into the new realism, but there's likely to be a sad, little cult of these people for some time yet. You said:

I have banned the phrase 'tipping point' in all discussions. That book was completely infantile, I can't believe people give him respect for it.
