Dennis,

Before I drilled you with a tweet I'd though I would google "Dennis Howlett cloud" and here I land.

PROBLEM

First page I see is " Virtualization "

Now that is a serious problem.

Virtualization is an ends to a means not vice versa. Virtualization is not a technical term at all.... It's really a business term encompassing cost cutting whilst silently undercutting the client - ' AS IS PRESENT'

However, I am very happt with current progress made by Intel, Xen, Parrellens to pass through VTX in it's entirity to the consumer. When we see this this implemented the future will be bright , the future will be /// VT-x

I don't disagree but remember this community are often professional accountants who DO worry about these aspects from a multitude of perspectives. Accountants are seriously important influencers (they cut checks) so cannot be ignored. I often meet professionals who don't know what this is about and I'm sure you'd agree that as the latest 'industry fashion statement' it is easy to get confused.

The average small and medium sized business should not have to know if the computing resources they are using are dedicated rack, shared tenancy, a grid, or whatever - these things mean little to businesses that only care about the applications that they run.

The small and med biz consultants and analysts (especially those focused on technical and industrial verticals) should be able to wrap the advantages of elastic scalability and other cloud benefits in the total services package.
