This month’s email blast from FreshBooks contained an interesting snippet:
Did you know you can invite contractors to work on your projects? They will receive their own FreshBooks account for free (if they don’t already have one) and once they’ve accepted your invitation they can log time against your project and send you invoices for the time they’ve worked‚ all from within THEIR FreshBooks account! Once you receive their invoice, you can then easily turn it into an expense and invoice YOUR client. Sub-contracting has never been so easy:

How cool is that? There is adequate security on both sides of the transaction so that your subbie doesn’t see stuff like client contact details or rebilling rates.
This is the way saas applications should work. Extending the way you collaborate with business partners becomes a no-brainer. This is something you simply can’t do with on-premise applications. More to the business point, it is the kind of functionality that allows you to grow your business with minimal administrative overhead.
This capability has been around at least since last August. Shame on me for not spotting it before.
