Questions for Jeremy Newman, BDO's global CEO

I have a once in a long time opportunity to meet with Jeremy Newman, BDO’s global CEO this Friday in London. As I said over on IT Counts:

[he and] I have had an on/off blog conversation for some time about the impact of potentially new regulation upon the audit profession. Here is a link to one of Jeremy’s  recent posts that refers to a long form piece he wrote in the Huffington Post on regulation.

I have many questions in mind and hope to capture at least some of our conversation on video. But…what would you like to know from the leader of one of the world’s largest professional firms? Francine McKenna and I have been tossing around a few thoughts.

Here are a few examples:

1. You recently made certain statements about the regulatory framework and the implicit failure of professional firms, can you expand on those thoughts?
2. What needs to change?
3. How do you think the profession restores its credibility as providing the necessary assurance for stakeholders generally?
4. Given we’re all operating in difficult economic conditions, how does that square with the tacitly acknowledged need for a higher quality of assurance than has been evident in recent times?
