I’m off on a ‘road trip’ to the US in about 30 minutes but before I go, I wanted to quickly mention Phil Hodgen – one of my ‘innovation heroes.’ Phil’s an awesome international tax lawyer who will be doubling up as my chauffeur when I arrive in Los Angeles.
I feel as though I’ve known Phil forever though we’ve only ever met once in ‘real world.’ A great listener and avid technology fan, Phil’s wee blog also includes some great video on the upcoming international tax amnesty operated by the IRS. The above is a sample. Check out his YouTube page.
As an example of Phil’s style:
I’m at the office on a Sunday afternoon, working on a fiercely technical pre-immigration tax plan. (”How do I become a resident of the United States and not pay tax?” is the question.) Don’t feel sorry for me, though. In about 2 hours I’ll be watching a primo Elvis impersonator for free in the park. Sierra Madre rocks, baby! (PDF)
It’s easy to understand how you can get to know Phil and the way he thinks. I wonder how many professionals would go this far? And for what its worth, Phil lectures extensively at CPA meetings. Which just goes to show that lawyers and accountants really can get on.
Oh yes – and check his use of a Gapingvoid cartoon.
