As I tweeted - if it spurs orgs like EuroCloud to provide clarity of meaning then I'm all for that as I'm sure readers will be as well. To put at its most extreme: have you heard anyone say: "Please can I have a bit of that cloud stuff?"

Speaking as someone who is part of the foundation group for EuroCloud in the UK, I'm glad to hear the positive noises you make here, but absolutely accept the criticism too. Getting a European voice for the Cloud industry will surely be a good thing, but we have to explain our position to the business world jargon free and without the hype. The initial supporters range from Microsoft to Mimecast, salesforce.com to Twinfield, and even companies like Dassault Systeme. It covers the whole of the Cloud, but that's a necessity we'll have to deal with. Hopefully we can do something to ensure consistent messaging, set some standards, but also raise the standard of marketing around the topic (that last one won't be too difficult I hear you say!).
