Fidor Bank: a new kind of community bank

by Dennis Howlett on November 5, 2009

Earlier on the week I mentioned I’d spoken with Matthias Kroner, CEO of Fidor Bank. Here is a video of his presentation. In it he questions the classical model of risk averse, product led banks. He offers an alternative view that positions the bank as open as in open source, community driven, with no sale people but a reputation based on the reputation of the people who use the service. It’s a stunning vision of what a bank could look like in the post financial crisis period.

It is this kind of thinking that gets me excited about the potential for the web and community. Kudos to SOMESSO for bringing this kind of thinking to the fore.
