Privacy – or rather the dwindling rights to privacy exacerbated by public social networks – are a long run topic of discussion. The reality is that it is hard to fight against the direction of travel, especially when so many are demanding transparency of the businesses with which we deal.

For all those considering how social media might impact our lives then check this video out. While it is a fun video, there is a salutary lesson in there. If you are unfamiliar with the term ‘junk’ then check out this definition.

And if you think ‘meh – doesn’t matter,’ then it’s worth looking at what happened to this executive who updated his LinkedIn profile only to find that his bosses were none too happy about what he had to say.  He didn’t see anything wrong, although he was prepared to admit to some errors of judgment. There are plenty of nuances to that particular story but what cannot be avoided is the fact that once a set of statements are put into the public domain, there is a permanency that can come back to haunt both individuals and corporations.
