Easyjet blog for small business

by Dennis Howlett on April 27, 2006

EasyJet needs a blog for small business. I don’t know how many people fly with EasyJet but of the low cost providers I use – including EasyJet, RyanAir, Jet2.com and a Spanish aggregator, I prefer to fly EasyJet.

I know a number of PR companies are choosing to send hacks out to gigs on low cost airlines – especially if the gig is in Europe. I don’t know anyone who has a seriously bad word to say about EasyJet – the same is not true of RyanAir – which also needs a blog. Why does this matter?

Because the airline that invented the low cost concept and, contrary to its own blog, SouthWest Airlines IS widely admired. They’ve just started a blog – Nuts About Southwest. It’s worth reading their Ts&Cs. They also have a link to the booking system and the business area. I like everything about this site.

  • Great, clean, relevant and tongue in cheek design.
  • Clear statement of purpose
  • Solid moderation policy based on terms I understand.
  • Wonderful background material.

My only caveat is it is bound to become a magnet for the trolls. SouthWest might think about how they’re going to manage the customer that has a real problem that remains unresolved. Maybe a button to a ‘call me; service? Maybe some human moderation?

Any PRs reading this – please get on the EasyJet/RyanAir case. This is the sort of service that would add value to small businesses. If they include a booking link then there is every incentive for professional accountants offering advice about offshoring or emigration to include that link as a convenience item. Since most people who go ex-pat are in higher income brackets – they’re a natural target. Good marketing?
