Compliance and corporate social responsibility (CSR) for SMEs

by Dennis Howlett on April 28, 2006

I’ve been waiting for a post from Manoj that I can really blog. Todays, he provides a fascinating insight into a lecture he heard on CSR:

How can a young company like ebdex promote CSR? Do we have time to even allocate few hours to discuss such? Perhaps not! But we can run the organisation as ethically as one can. Perhaps adapting BASDA code of practise is one way towards that goal.

Great question. Now for the history and if I have told it before then here’s the latest version:

Dennis Keeling who himself is just getting into blogging yet is very powerful within the vendor community and has influence at the seat of government, suggested Manoj get in touch with me. He did via Skype and within a day he was blogging. He’s been at it since 13th April. WIthin a couple of days, he’d hooked up with David Terrar who he found at my place. They’re talking some commercial thing. I’m not party to the deal but I know it’s interesting to SaaS lovers.

Yesterday, I was able to help Manoj with a communications problem he was having inside another vendor and was able to source a more appropriate contact together with an alternative at board level if this doesn’t work out. That makes me feel this is worth while.

What’s it all about? Go see Manoj and view his Profile (sorry can’t link to it properly). Then take a look at the whole post.

Given what I was saying about FSA compliance in my last post shouldn’t we be trying to find business value in what is otherwise a business tax? Is this what James Governor means when he says the 21st century needs a new type of analyst and trusted advisor? Does that include me? James thinks so. Does that include you? I hope so.

Bonus points for noticing that Hugh MacLeod’s theory of indirect marketing in the blog world is working – as predicted. Don’t you just love virtuous circles?
