How this site was assembled.
This site uses Wordpress as its engine and its theme is based on a ported version of Fresh from Barthelme. The site is very slow. If it fails to load, ping me a note and I’ll get you a copy but you can use any WP theme. It does NOT have to be widgets friendly. In fact I would switch widgets OFF if they have been activated so as not to confuse you.
Most modifications involved using Javascript to create tabbed sections in sidebar.php. The Tabber code together with the cookie code necessary to keep you in the same place when you return are found at Barely Fitz. Read through the tab instructions which are readily available on the site. Investing 10 minutes here saves a lot of pain later. Unzip the tabber.zip file to a local hard drive, read the installation instructions carefully (they’re in the readme.txt file), upload to the WP plugin directory.
Implement tabber.js in the HEAD area of the header.php file.
Note: you MAY need to implement in the sidebar as well. If you see nothing in the sidebar once you’ve done everything else then this is the problem.
Implementing the tabbed code in the sidebar is a bit more complicated but it’s not that hard once you’ve figured out the elements you need. To that end, I’ve created a PDF you can download from Writely which includes a set of code snippets. I suggest printing these out and then looking at the sidebar on this site to see how it is implemented.
